ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

I, along with two other recent design graduates of JMU, was tasked with creating a new wayfinding system in the new engineering department's building. We came up with a door numbering system, a main hallway column wayfinding system, prototyped hallway murals, and created a message board for the various make shops in the building. We worked with a vinyl cutter, panel saw, and vinyl installation equipment to quickly prototype our ideas. We worked within a budget and were responsible for gathering and purchasing the materials needed to complete the projects. I honed my prototyping, graphic design, and woodworking skills while gaining knowledge in environmental design, specifically wayfinding in public spaces.
